Leyland St James

Scout Group

We hope we can give you an insight into how Scouting works at Leyland St James Scout Group along with some of the Beaver Colony, Cub Pack and Scout Troop activities, outings and camps

To promote the development of young people through Scouting in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities.

The method of achieving the Aim of the Association is by providing an enjoyable and attractive scheme of progressive training, based on the Scout Promise and Law guided by adult Leadership. This is further expanded through the progressive training programme. Due to a programme review which was implemented in September 2002. Beaver Scouts (6-8 years) and Cub Scouts (8-10½ years) are staying as they are, Scouts now finish at 14 years and continue with Explorer Scouts (14-18 years) and a Scout Network for young Leaders (18-25 years). A Scout District supports all Scout Groups in the local community who in turn are supported by a Scout County. LCVYS serves two Scout Counties: East Lancashire and West Lancashire. The Scout Association has policies for Child Protection and Equal Opportunities details of which can be found in the Policy, Organisation and Rules (POR) that gives guidance and information relevant to The Scout Association. The two Scout Counties own various activity centres across Lancashire and further a field, details of which are available from the relevant County Offices.

Leyland St James Scout Group currently takes in Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.
